How often do you doubt yourself?

Do you doubt yourself when it comes to your capabilities in finishing a project? Or to just start one?

Do you doubt yourself when it comes to your daily health challenges? 

Do you feel as though you don’t have the power to change the way you feel?

I hear you. I know what you mean!

Self-doubt comes from a lack of confidence, and with this, we can feel incapable, stuck, where we keep wishing for something but don’t take steps to get it, such as having that conversation and ask for that promotion, hiring that coach that can help us reach a goal.

Believing in ourselves and our capabilities is something we need to learn to recognize.

Often we doubt ourselves because we have been told certain things that make us question our capabilities from outside influencers. 

Things that have been put into our heads as we were little, teenagers, or even grown-ups. Someone told us that we couldn’t, and with that, we started believing that we couldn’t or shouldn’t even try to. So, we started doubting ourselves in achieving certain things. 

Certain beliefs happen because of one powerful role model; this is how believe-systems are born.

When we are children, our role models are our parents, grandparents, teachers, siblings, guardians, etc.

We believe in what they do and what they say because they teach us many paths of life.

After we grow up, we take political role models, social role models, spouses, friends… as someone we look up to. These influencers are often positive; we tend to learn from them and positively improve our lives. 

Sometimes though, influencers can hold us back, make us feel weak, at one point or another, or they influenced us in a way that we adopted their ways of life and can’t see our own anymore.

With that, self-doubt can appear in many ways within many of us. 

Let’s face it; there are so many things we can come across in life that influence us in so many ways, not only bad but also good. 

Problems can arise when we stop believing in ourselves and start doubting everything we do; then, we start doubting our capabilities to accomplish our goals, especially when it comes to our health. Or just accept life as is because that’s what we were told. 

Self-doubt has held me back often, just being who I am and accomplishing something I wanted, such as opening my spa. Instead, I stayed with my hair salon for 13 years. I never took the chance to adventure out and grow bigger. I regret that today. 

Often I was told I don’t need my spa, or I don’t need this or that, I couldn’t do this or that, and that I was stupid. These are the things that gave me incredible self-doubt as I believed all these things that have been told to me, even though I knew better. These consistent comments overpowered me in a way that I stopped believing in my capabilities and thought that indeed I couldn’t shouldn’t and didn’t need these things in my life.

Not anymore, I am determined to get what I want, and I work at it every day. When it came to my health, I was determined enough to overcome my gluten sensitivity and, with that, achieved my goal. Having achieved that goal prompted me to become a Lifestyle and health Integration coach to help others overcome their dietary hurtles. Negative outside influences had no part in my life any longer.

You can do it too!

When I talk to people about why they don’t commit to a coach or themselves, they often say,” it’s because I don’t believe I can” or “I don’t think I can stick with it and be successful in doing so.” Well, I am here to tell you that “yes you can”! Today I will share 1 thing that will help you get started getting past self-doubt!


1 Major thing to accomplish is to gain clarity, and this means you need to put your thinking cap on and bring clarity to yourself.

Clarity about how you want to show up in life. Who are you?  

The first thing I did was create pros and cons list that reflected my life at the time. I had severe issues with my digestion, and my gluten sensitivity gave me a run for my money.

So get out your pad and pencil and start creating your list! Or download the worksheet I created for you right here!

For example: 

My cons were;

  • Constant nausea
  • Anxiety
  • Freshly divorced with an abusive ex-husband
  • Performance at work downgraded


Pros were:

  • My kids, who kept me going
  • I was my own boss at my own business
  • Willing to learn
  • My neighbors who inspired me daily to want more for myself

Then I created a list of goals that I wanted to achieve in the very near future;

  • Get rit of my anxiety
  • Find a partner that I can grow old with who respects me for me
  • Become smart about gluten

Once I finished these lists, I looked at them very closely to clarify how I could achieve these goals within the next month, six months, and a year from now. 

Then I create steps that I could take every day to reach my goals. ( For example; to eliminate/reduce my anxiety, I needed to adopt stress-relieving systems in my life, such as meditation or exercise)

One of my favorite sayings is which I have on my phone as a reminder, is: 

-Ask yourself if what you’re doing today is getting you closer to where you want to be tomorrow-

And that is the key ingredient while becoming clear on who you are, who you want to be, and where you want to go in life, no matter if this is health-wise or career-wise.

It takes many little steps to accomplish the big ones, and with that, we have to work on achieving these daily. 

Another thing you can do to stir yourself in the direction of overcoming self-doubt and get clarity about yourself is to write down one thing you like about yourself every day.

As Brendon Buchard likes to say, “Insecurity comes from lack of clarity”! With that, self-doubt arises. 

I highly believe that we are the most significant obstacles to living life to our fullest potential. 

I am here to encourage you today to start taking steps to move past these obstacles in life that keep holding you back in living life your way. 

You can do this. I believe in you. You are already a badass in my book.

So get on writing, make your lists and start moving in the direction of believing in yourself again. Know that you have the power and the right to live your life to the fullest, and don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.
