Sweet potato Hummus

Let’s have some Sweet Potato Hummus, that’s quick easy, simple, and healthy woohoo!

Sweet potato Hummus

Want to change up your hummus lets add some sweetness to it, but in a healthy way. We all love hummus as we are using as a dip, spread for a snack, sandwiches, wraps, but also as a pepper sandwich. Pepper sandwich is where we cut a pepper in half and fill it with different things such as hummus, lettuce meat, veggies… and eat it as a sandwich. It is so good and refreshing, plus super satisfying. What I like the most about this kind of sandwich is that I don’t get this intense full feeling after I’m finished eating.

Today I have a recipe for you that is loved by me and my family quite well. I came across a similar recipe on Pinterest and of course made it my own, by adding some of the ingredients I prefer.

Hummus is one of those snacks that can come in all different flavors, such as sweet or spicy, some hummus is quite lime or lemon-like, others are stuffed with garlic or roasted red peppers.  As you can see it almost like a Tofu as it can be dressed up depending on your taste and mood that day, that’s why I like to have a can of chickpeas in my pantry at all times, sop when we crave hummus, I can make any kind within 5-10 minutes. The only thing you must have at hand is a food processor, otherwise making hummus could turn into a big pain in the behind.

This recipe took about 5 minutes, so let’s try it.

Are you ready to try this easy, quick, and healthy recipe? I dare you! 🙂

What you need:

  • 1 can of organic chickpeas, partially drained
  • 2 very small or 1 medium cooked sweet potato ( I used leftover baked sweet potato from the night before, if you like you can also just peel and cook it in water if you don’t have a leftover handy)
  • 4 tablespoons Olive Oil
  • Sea Salt, Pepper, Cayenne, Turmeric

Combine all ingredients in a food processor and blend until smooth, if you feel that this might be to dry you can add an extra tablespoon of Olive Oil or some water.

Want to add some more spice to it? Add 2 cloves of garlic, that will spice it right up and maybe even some red pepper flakes!

Voila, here you have it a super healthy and simple snack, you can eat this with gluten-free crackers or veggies.

I am thinking of baking my own crackers here pretty soon once I do I will give you that recipe as well!
