The importance of metabolic health, and how to kick it up a notch!
10 years ago, I took my health into my own hands and started researching how to get rid of my inflammation, control my food sensitivities and start kicking my health up a notch.
I strongly believe that we all have that right and that taking control of your own health is an important thing when it comes to a healthy metabolic system.
Metabolic health is part of a well-functioning immune system. A healthy and well-functioning immune system fights infection, viruses…
My point today though, is that if we want to keep ourselves protected from unwanted viruses, we need to start on the inside of our bodies. With that comes metabolic health.
We cannot expect to get away with treating ourselves badly, surrounding ourselves with unhealthy, sugary, toxic loaded foods, sitting in front of the Tv listening to stressful and horrible news, withering away at home, without taking personal actions in getting ourselves healthy.
Only we have that power to get ourselves healthy, fit, and strong enough to have immune systems that can actually do their job appropriately.
The immune system’s job is to fight to keep our bodies healthy and sadly we have managed to weaken it to the point where an estimated 606,520 people will die of cancer alone in the United States in 2020
for more info on this go to https://seer.cancer.gov/statfacts/html/common.html
One person dies every 37 seconds of cardiovascular disease in the United States. That equals 647,000 people who die from heart disease every year. That is 1 in every 4 deaths.
To find out more about this click here: https://www.cdc.gov/heartdisease/facts.htm
280,184 people die from obesity alone every year in the U.S. That does not include the illnesses that come with obesity such as diabetes.
To read more about this statistic go to https://www.wvdhhr.org/bph/oehp/obesity/mortality.htm
Did you know that 34.2 million Americans have diabetes and that 88 Million American adults have prediabetes/ Diabetes 2?
The bottom line is, that these are staggering numbers of deaths every year even before the Corona Virus. So, where do we begin, or better yet when is it going to stop?
Today we are hiding behind masks to protect ourselves from diseases, as our bodies and immune systems aren’t strong enough to do their jobs properly. Or our immunes systems are in overdrive because it is already fighting some kind of inflammation, illness, and our immune system is already suppressed.
These are all good reasons why we as people need to take control of our own wellbeing.
I get it. I used to be sick, I was sicker than a dog (excuse the phrase), with food sensitives, inflammation in my digestive system, heart palpitations, anxiety…I was a wreck until I said enough is enough. I made it my job to get better. I took control of the foods I chose to eat, about the environment I wanted to live in, and the stressors that weren’t welcome in my life anymore.
Our lives are action-packed by the daily choices we make for ourselves. It’s time to choose healthy living over suffering.
Today I am healthier in my late 40’s than I was in my late 20’s.
I chose for me to be healthy, strong, and not afraid anymore. This is my life and I have the right to live it.
While I understand that there are cases where unfortunate events, family histories, or circumstances are sadly the cases. For the majority of these metabolic unhealthy illnesses prevention, nutrition, and lifestyle change can be the key ingredient to a better healthier life with a better functioning immune system.
Dr. Mark Hyman explains in one of his episodes that only 12% of Americans are metabolically healthy, to me that is mind-blowing, don’t you think.

As a Lifestyle and Health Integration Coach, I help people with exactly these things, like how to step their nutrition up a notch along by changing their lifestyles around to support physical and psychological wellbeing are met so they can start being the boss of their health and life again.
Yesterday on my way home from my weekly grocery shopping trip I listened to my music and a fast-food commercial came on and I got very upset. My thought was “how can we keep promoting fast food, unhealthy, treated, and abused food sources to the people, while we are all here scared of dying, wearing masks and are not being told to take care of ourselves by actually eating healthy clean non-toxic foods amongst other things”?
I see so many scared people it upsets me greatly. So many of the diseases that we suffer from that makes us high risk for Covid-19 the flu.., are preventable. If you are obese or have cardiovascular diseases or maybe you are pre-diabetic, you have that power to change that. It is not too late.
You can start today! Change your eating habits, lifestyle, get a coach, a support system! Start investing in your health! Stop investing in your sickness. It starts with each small decision we make every day. It starts with that first breath we take each morning after we wake up and every decision thereafter.
Being metabolically healthy is priceless and it kicks up our immune function, it makes us feel good and not like crap, it will give us the energy to do the things we want to do every day. So are you wondering how you can increase your metabolic health?
Well, you have come to the right place! There quite a few things you can do:
- Eliminate added sugars from your diet (it’s your lucky day, I just created a 3-day mini Kick-start “quit added sugars” course completely FREE to you.
- Eliminate processed foods as much as possible
- Add anti-viral herbs and spices to your daily diet, such as Oregano, Ginger, Basil, Garlic, Turmeric, Rosemary…
- Take care of your gut, 60% of your immune system lays in your gut by eating probiotic-rich foods such as fermented foods like Kimchi, Sauerkraut, Kefir…
- Choose organic and farm to table products
- Add exercise/ yoga, meditation to your day
These are all things you can start doing today, by adding one thing to your day and maybe add another next week. If you are someone like me, take it all and start fresh tomorrow.
So, go ahead and rock your health, get some sunshine, smile.
Until next time,
Xx Andi 🙂
